Done on vellum with gouache, gold leaf, and oak gall ink.
The source image is HMML Cod. S 294, f. 177v. I wanted to do the foilate decorations between the arms of the "W", but really struggled to get them sketched out properly, so decided to forego them rather than do them poorly. I sketched everything out on Mar. 10, and put down the gold size. I gilded it on Mar. 17, and finished up the initial.
The text reads:
William and Isabetta, king and queen of Drachenwald, to our right-worthy subject Hedda Olavsdottir, greetings and good will. Know that for the love we bear you and for all your skills and services as a clerk in our chancery we the aforenamed rulers by our royal might and dignity hereby name you a companion of the Order of the Panache. Signata manibus nobis apud Miehonlinna, xxiii Martii anno societatis liii.
The scroll took two hours to complete; one to sketch the layout out, paint the base coat, do the white and yellow work, and put down the size, and another to gild and do the calligraphy.
